Technical FAQ

Ezy Systems application software appears to run slow after upgrading or installing anti-virus software

Question

Ezy Systems application software appears to run slow after upgrading or installing anti-virus software.

Answer

The installation and configuration of anti-virus software at either the server or client workstation or both will have a significant impact on Ezy Systems application performance.

Most anti-virus software will install with a default setting to check all files that are accessed by the computer. This affects Ezy Systems software performance as there are sometimes hundreds of files being downloaded and accessed at any one time.

Solution:

  1. Configure your anti-virus software to exclude certain file types from being scanned. The following file types may be safely excluded from scanning:
    *.DBF
    *.CDX
    *.FXP
    *.DBC
Please note that none of these file types have been known to carry or become infected by viruses.
  2. For those clients using VET Anti-Virus software please be aware that some previous version updates of this software have caused slow Ezy Systems application software performance. If this occurs and you have implemented Solution 1, you should roll back to the previous version of VET Anti-Virus or contact VET Anti-Virus software support.
